How old is my antique sewing machine?
It belonged to my great grand mother (absolutely not for sale btw). It's german and it has a wheel and a foot peddal. it kinda looks like a desk and it has a stool with it. my mom says it's from ww2, but it has got to be older.... so if you know pls tell me. all google searches were a waste of time
I have no idea. Take a picture of it, and take the picture to a sewing repair shop... they should know. _______________________________ See More
Does anyone know where I can find a sims 2 vintage sewing room set?
I had this really neat vintage sewing room set, I then got sims 3 and figured I didn't need my sims 2 stuff and deleted everything, then I found out I sims 3 sucked (in my opinion) and so I'm back to sims 2 and trying to find everything again. I'm having trouble with this one though. It was red velvet and dark wood, not sure if there were other colors, it had a sewing basket, a large and small sewing box, a stool, a couple mannequins, and a project bulletin board, I think it had a couple other pieces but these were the ones I used and so they're the only ones I remember. If anyone knows where I can find these I'd appreciate it. Thanks in advance.

how do i find the matching stool to an antique sewing machine cabinet?
I collect antique sewing machines, and recently purchased a Singer 15-91 in cabinet style 40. I'm working on restoring the machine, and would love to find the matching stool, but have no idea where to start (aside from spending $150 on ebay). Collecting these machines is an inexpensive hobby, so I'm not looking to pour lots of money into this, but I'd like a complete set. Any ideas on finding an antique stool that was separated from its cabinet? There IS a matching stool that goes with cabinet style 40. This is the stool; but I'm not looking to spend that kind of cash: http://cgi.ebay.com/Singer-Walnut-Bench-Stool-with-Lift-Seat_W0QQitemZ370337217569QQcmdZViewItemQQptZAntiques_Furniture?hash=item5639d17c21#ht_3034wt_973 I'm just looking for tips on how to search for something that, when separated from the cabinet, isn't easily identifiable.
Many cabinet machines didn't have stools or chairs... you used one of your kitchen or dining room chairs. See: ... See More
How do I sew a slip cover for one of those wooden gliders?
I have a wooden glider and stool that I bought when my daughter was born. I now want to move it into a different room and I would like to make a slip cover to put over it since it is pink. Any suggestions?
Does the glider and its stool have a cushion? If so, you could just cover the cushions, which should be fairly easy. If you want to cover ... See More
What I would do is just duplicate whatever is there already. You have the pattern. It's on the glider. Take all the fabric stuff off, and ... See More
Is it a good idea to use glue-on molding to disguise severe water damage to bottom of sewing cabinet
I'm in the middle of refinishing a sewing cabinet and need to do something with the bottom. It is missing many small pieces of the wood and using a wood filler would take forever and, in my experience, never takes the stain the same way as the rest of the piece. The damage is all around the cabinet and the matching stool and I would like to simply glue on wooden wall molding to cover the damage. The original cabinet had a maple stain with a three-inch redwood stain on the bottom which didn't strip well anyway. Covering this up seems like a good option. What do you think?
I think you are thinkin right :) many times you can do what you are saying and make the piece very unique and fresh..putty almost never ... See More
Can anyone think of a place that I can find a black light to check out some diamonds I found?
They are probably fakes but I found them stuck in a sewing stool I bought at a yard sale. I read a few thing on web sites about looking though them over newsprint etc. but don't want to pay someone unless I am reasonably sure they are real. So I want to see what they look like under black light. They are not a big deal the biggest is maybe two carats but the other is small. I just was looking for a possible location so I can see what colors they give off under a black light...I could not find the right forum to put this Q obviously...
i have heard of stories of people ending with with millions after buying what seems like useless junk at garage sales. you know, priceless ... See More
